Redecoration of the Ringing Room

Introduction

After many years of putting up with the decor, some of it having been there as long as anyone could remember and with a carpet which had suffered just as many years of physical abuse (as well as verbal abuse from the 2003-5 Branch Chairman) we agreed it was time to redecorate.

Despite contacting the BBC, we were unable to initiate an extention of any of the house-makeover programmes (we thought "Change-Ringing Rooms" would have been a great marketing point, but instead they cancelled the main show!) and hence we realised we would have to do it ourselves.

Before

With red lower walls (more recently painted than the rest) and an off-white that was so-off we were not actually sure whether it was really supposed to be white at all when it was painted on, the room felt quite small and dark. The "lovely" green carpet has clearly seen better days (50-60 years ago) and work was required on the walls where the plaster needed making good.

It always looks so easy when they redecorate and rebuild on the TV programmes!

Of course, having been instrumental in the persuasion stakes ("When are you going to hoover that carpet?") we felt it only right that the Chairman of the Branch (left) should be presented with a momento, as a reminder of bygone times.
