The Bells at Norbury

Despite the small dimensions of the tower, there are 8 bells held in a frame to be rung "full circle". Due to the lack of space they are held on two levels, with bells 1,2,3 and 5 on the upper lever and 4,6,7 and 8 on the lower level.

In 1837, there were only 6 bells, taken from the church at Disley (which, one presumes received a new ring of bells at this time). In 1925, four of these were re-cast and re-tuned and a further four bells were added to augment the ring to 8 bells. This work was undertaken by Messrs. Taylor and Co., of Loughborough, at a cost of about £800.

The remaining two old bells are on display in the church itself.The bells, inscriptions and weights are shown in the table below:
